This module demonstrates the relationship between Corporate Ethics and Consumers. The introductory lecture of this module focuses on advertisement as the issue in this relationship. Advertisement hits the psychological hook of the customer.  Ethical issues can arise due to:

  • Dependency: Advertisements can influence people in many ways, thereby creating dependency problems.
  • Subliminal: Hidden message in an advertisement that hits the psychological hook of the customer without making him/her aware of that message.
  • Deception: False or misleading advertisement of a product

These ethical issues can be eradicated provided that a clear summary of disclosures is made available to the customer.
